Notes 4/13/07 Basic Tenants of AA o 12 steps (basic tenants) of AA o The alcoholic admits that he or she is powerless over alcohol and their lives have become unmanaged o You believe that only a power greater than you can restore you o You agree that you must turn your life and will over to God o You make a searching and fearless moral inventory of yourself. Look at yourself as you are as honestly as you possibly can. I am a good or bad person… These are my good and bad qualities… o You admit to God, yourself, and others the exact nature of the wrongs that you have done. Tell everyone how you have wronged and that you are sorry. Confession to everyone o You tell yourself that you are ready to ask God for help o You ask/pray to God to take the burden from you o Make a list of all the people that you have harmed and you become willing to make amends. “Guy who admitted to a girl that he had raped her in college years before” story o You do make amends wherever possible
