On the Road - middle of Ch. 9 through the end of ch. 18, on the road from Galilee to Jerusalem Travel narrative - foreshadows Paul's missionary journey in Acts, which this same author will relate in the Acts of the Apostles 8 - Travelling with his 12 disciples; Ministry supported by *women* - Mary Magdalene , from whom 7 spirits had gone out; Joanna , wife of Harod's steward; Susanna - - - provided for him out of their resources What is a parable? Greek word: para-ballein, a curve, to throw a curve ball; a story with a punch line (Hebrew Bible: Nathan telling the story of the sheep to David: that man is you!) Chapter 8 - - Parable fo the Seeds - Opens with a "key" to interpretation; closes with an example interpretation; Jesus modeling the interpretation of parables 8:18 - "Then pay attention to how you listen ; for to those who have, more will be given, and from those who do not have, even what they seem to have will be taken away."
