Your first paper is due via Turnitin by January 29

by 10 pm. All papers should be 4-5
pages, double-spaced. Please note the policy for grade reduction of late papers on your
syllabus. Please also bring a printed copy of your paper to class on January 31
st
.
All students are encouraged to make an appointment with the Department of History’s
Writing Center, and to have a draft of their paper reviewed. For more information and to

If you don’t have time to visit the History Writing Center, do consult some of their useful
online handouts, including “ What is a History paper?”
Papers should:
• Include your name, your section number, and your teaching assistant’s name
on the first page.
• Present a complete introductory paragraph that defines the focus of the paper
and includes a compelling thesis.
