Gives an Etiological myth (myth explaining the origin of something) ii. Original humans were double in shape: four arms, four legs, two faces 1. Very acrobatic, confident, powerful in strength iii. Males – Sun iv. Females – Earth v. Androgynous – Moon vi. Story: 1. These humans began to pile stones to climb to Mt. Olympus to assault the gods. Zeus is mortified. He decides to split the human beings into two halves. Zeus sends Apollo down from Mt. Olympus with the task of cutting the humans in half. Apollo turns the human’s features around. 2. Now everyone is focused on looking for their “other half”. 3. At first, Apollo forgets to flip the genitals but he realizes his mistake and fixes it so humans can reproduce.
