Long Report Page Numbering By: Sarah Feller, Tracy Anthony and Alyssa Berg Why do we need to learn how to do this? It is necessary and important to know how to properly place page numbers on different parts of a long report. Three Parts to a Long Report (refer to page 387) 1. Title Fly, Title Page and Transmittal Letter Page numbers: None 2. Prefatory Parts: Table of Contents, Executive Summary Page numbers: Roman Numerals 3. Report Body Page numbers: Regular Numbers How Do We Put Page Numbers in Long Reports? Step One: Make sure the report includes all three sections previously listed. Step Two: Inserting Section Breaks In order to split the document into the three sections, you must insert section breaks. There are two kinds of section breaks- Next Page and Continuous. How to insert the section breaks: o At the end of section one (after the Transmittal Letter): Go to Insert > Break > Section Break (Next Page) > OK. o
