Brown-san has been looking for an apartment. She is talking to Tanaka-san on the phone, who has a vacant room in her apartment. Brown wants to know 1. How long it takes from the apartment to the school, 2. What kind of living room the apartment has. Tanaka wants to know 1. What time Brown usually wakes up, 2. How much/long Brown studies at home. Brown: How do you do? I’m Brown. Tanaka: How do you do? I’m Tanaka. Pleased to meet you. Where are you from, Brown- san? Brown: I’m from Kansas in the U.S. What is your major, Tanaka-san? Amerikano Kasasu kara kimashita. Tanaka-san no senkou wan an desu ka. Tanaka: It’s economics. What is yours? Brown-san no wan an desu ka. Brown: It’s Japanese. Tanaka-san, How do you go to school from your apartment? Tanaka-san, aparto kara gakkou made nani desikimasu ka. Tanaka: The apartment is close to school, therefore I always go by walking. It’s about 15 minutes. But, I sometimes go by bike too. Aparto wa gakkou chikoku ni arimasu kara itsumo aruite ikimasu.
