Tan Huy Hoang Nguyen (10977299) Professor Mellen Political Science 101 23 April 2008 April 16, 2008 Democratic Debate This debate didn’t even start out as a debate. Both candidates have been under the radar so to speak and have been ridiculed for past statements and affiliations. Because of this, the debate started off with apologies and reprimands from both candidates for the majority of the initial hour. Senator Hilary Clinton apologized for being dishonest about being under sniper fire in Bosnia. As for Senator Obama, he went on the defensive for his associations with Reverend Wright and William Ayers as well as for past statements directed to Americans. Following their apologies, they went into their policies. However, nothing new was said and both parties seem to have identical plans. Even on the issue of the Iraq War,

Unformatted text preview: both Senator Clinton and Obama stated that they would immediately pull American Troops out of Iraq no matter the situation otherwise advised. That statement alone is the most idiotic thing anyone can say and loses a tremendous amount of respect. This comes from a person that is opposed to the war as well. I think this debate was lame, period. The Democratic Party needs to do something and do it soon. Things have lingered way too long and need to begin wrapping it up. Democrats need a single candidate that they can support and carry through the presidential election, without going down each other’s throats. No wonder Republicans have won the majority of the elections. I know they’re trying to acquire the best candidate and I’m all for it. Just do it sooner....
