This data contains personal and confidential information for all parties involved. Whendealing with this type of information, necessary precautions must be taken to keep the datasecure from cyber attacks, unwanted sharing, or destruction of the data – both intentional andunintentional.One way to ensure that the data remains uncompromised is by implementing a disasterrecovery plan (DRP). A DRP is a comprehensive plan that lists steps needed if a manufactured ornatural disaster occurs. These plans reduce costs, increase productivity, and help keep theorganization compliant with industry regulations. A well-written DRP should detail all actionsthat should be taken before, during, and after the disaster (Druva, 2021).For the plan to be effective, KCSD should create a checklist to be followed in a disaster.The list includes all the major components needed to maximize data recovery and reducedowntime (Reed, 2020). The checklist items should include but are not limited to stakeholdersand their roles, a risk assessment, the goal the organization wants to achieve with the plan,backup procedures, and recovery sites (Cloudian, 2021).
