Business Goals and Processes2 What are Business Goals and Processes? A business goal is usually broad and long-term. A company or organization will use goals for yearly projects. The goals set for the business should align with the company's mission or vision (Coleman, 2022). Goals typically define the "what" when it comes to a business's purpose and give an overall direction for the company to follow (Indeed, 2021). An objective, however, is a measurable "how-to" when it comes to specific tasks the company wishes to complete (Coleman, 2022). Company Background Keystone Central School District is a small rural-based school district located in central Pennsylvania and consists of nine schools, a virtual academy, and a career and technical center. It spans three counties and currently has about 3,720 students. The mission of KCSD is to "develop lifelong learners who are adaptable, resilient, productive, and of high moral character." And to "prepare citizens for the challenges and opportunities of the future" (Keystone Central School District, 2020). Business Goals and Objectives A critical business goal for KCSD should be to improve its security posture. Security posture is how well your company's or organization's cybersecurity measures perform (Maerz, 2022). The security posture within a company will never be static. It will constantly need to be reevaluated to respond to new threats or vulnerabilities, according to Rosencrance (2022), making this a much-needed goal for the organization. KCSD stores numerous data for all students, faculty, employees, and financial and tax information for the school district and citizens
