Most cells in adults are in G0; don’t divide. Some (e.g. neurons) can’t divide. Others can divide when needed. Growth factors (ex. PDGF) can trigger division.

Example; wound healing. Platelets (blood cells) go to wound site and release PDGF. PDGF binds to a receptor tyrosine kinase on cells near wound.
