Purpose: The purpose of the following procedures is to model diffusion and osmosis in living cells for student to observe and understand how the systems work. B. Materials: (1) Dialysis Lab - Ovalbumin - Glucose solution - Water - Scale - 2 plastic cups - Cover paper - Dialysis tubing - Syringe - String C. Procedure (1) Dialysis Lab 1. Use given solution in and out (given on flashcard) example in ovalbumin, out glucose 2. Make dialysis tubing cells by tying a knot in one end of 2 dialysis tubing, fill with 10ml of solution and knot the other side 3. Weigh each cell, record the initial weight, place it into the cup filled with the second solution for that pair 4. Label cups 5. Cover cups 6. Let sit overnight 7. Mass your 2 cells 8. Collect data from 2 different pairs D.
