James Strunk Noises Off by Michael Frayn critique Viewed at 2:00 PM Sunday the 15 th of October, 2006 at the Mount’s theatre The basic premise of the entire play is that of a play; that is, the play is about putting on a play. The cast and crew within the play are trying to organize their acting to put on a show in a rapidly approaching deadline, and are trying to struggle through the scenes as fast as possible. The director of the play has to put up with their antics, mishaps, and questions, and tries to guide them through the play as swiftly as possible before the show opens. The acting throughout the play was superb. The stand out character who stole the show was the character Lloyd (Sorry, I lost the pamphlet with his name). The actor stole every scene in which he participated in. His motions, gestures, and delivery of lines made him the star of the play. When he first interrupted the play, I actually believe he was the real director, that’s how convincing he was. I think with the talent this actor illustrated, any character he portrayed I would have been impressed with. Even with characters I am not fond of, I could appreciate the performance he would give.
