Includes an introduction to legal research, legal writing and analysis, communication skills, careers in the law, and legal and professional ethics. General Objectives: To provide students with the knowledge and skills to better understand the American legal system, to develop the analytical skills necessary to legal reasoning and thought, and to provide a foundation for further study of the law at the undergraduate level.

Specific Objectives : Upon successful completion, students should: 1. understand of the sources of law in the U.S. legal system as well as current ethical, regulatory, educational and workplace issues; 2. gain an introductory knowledge of Federal and state court systems, and civil and criminal litigation; 3. develop critical thinking, writing, and legal analysis skills; 4. read judicial opinions with comprehension and prepare written briefs of those opinions.
