twentieth century. His book The Great Gatsby is now one o f the a bestseller s in America and
gives us a very vivid understanding of how life is during the roaring twenties. Cars, seen as a
symbol of status, appear a considerable amount of times in the story. The different reactions of
certain characters towards the cars reveal the people’s valuability before fancy outlooks.
In the story, cars play a very important role in terms of making the appearance of one to
the public.
