PYSC 453 - Notes Topic: Priming Ex: setting the table before dinner 2 nd article One can have different senses of attachment in different situations Group provides sense of security People who have a secure attachment are more open minded and more likely to see good in the outgroup. Study 1: They have a positive condition and not just a secure and neutral condition. This is an experimental control to make sure that elevated mood (not priming) causes the attitude. Priming here: 60 trials with different pairs of 12 concepts. Make a judgment of what goes together and what doesn’t. Doesn’t matter what judgment is. Priming words presented 15 out of 60 trials. Attachment words appeared on screen 20 ms. Can’t see them. Mask is what the subject thinks that task is. Mask in this case was the words. Secure priming condition aimed to increase evaluation of the outgroup. Study 2:
