Results and Discussion: This experiment’s purpose was to synthesize one of two unknown cobalt complexes (A or B) and purify it to measure the wavelengths of maximum absorbance of five cobalt complexes. The identities of the complexes can be determined from this data. Complex B was prepared and added to distilled water, having a clear, orange color. Its highest peak using the Ocean Optics spectrometer was observed to be 464 nm.
