Results and Discussion: This experiment’s purpose was to synthesize one of two unknown cobalt complexes (A or B) and purify it to measure the wavelengths of maximum absorbance of five cobalt complexes. The identities of the complexes can be determined from this data. Complex B was prepared and added to distilled water, having a clear, orange color. Its highest peak using the Ocean Optics spectrometer was observed to be 464 nm. Table 1: Wavelengths of Maximum Absorbance in Cobalt Complexes Complex A B C D E Highest Peak (nm) 495 464 475 549 467 From this data, ∆o can be determined using the equation:

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
