Landmarks such as Rene Descartes advocating of deductive reasoning as the best procedure for scientific reasoning and Isaac Newton’s Mathematical Principals (pg. 304) contributed to the current field of mathematics and science. John Locke and Charles Montesquieu made huge advancements in developing social and economic principles that many of our governments in countries around the world use today (pg. 305-306). Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence based on ideas of John Locke and contributed many philosophies to the American culture (pg, 307). Mary Wollstonecraft advocated women’s rights which have become a major issue in western society today (pg. 309). Jean-Jacques Rousseau developed philosophies on the corruption of human nature and instilled these ideas into present-day political systems (pg. 310) Alexander Pope made contributions in the area of
