Week 2A Lecture Notes Manahatta was also a poem my Whitman and the text are quotes. Number of shots in film increasing bc the shots are shorter and quality better. Star wars was 3.13 sec per shot on avg. Notes on Vertov: Lenon made it so that in the theaters there needed to be 3 documentaries for every 1 fiction film, mandate. Most fiction films had doc. look and feel about real events. Vertov was obsessed with the value of documentary verse fiction. Wrote a lot. Merging of theory and practice. Felt fiction almost evil, with no social value especially during the Revolution in Russia 1917 when Lenon came into power. After Lenon period Vertov fell out bc style/aesthetic changed to be known as socialist realism- it emphasized content over style to educate the masses done by Stalin. Formalism was better liked by filmmakers bc had aesthetic practices that gave them a revolution of way to make films and get across ideas (during Lenons reign). NEP period gave relaxation in the arts where could experiment (other filmmakers besides Vertov to take advantage was Eisenstein).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
