Aimee Powers Written Exercise #5 10/15/16 1. At the claims-processing office for All-Folks Insurance, 25 employees process 2500 claims per work day. The claims processing office for Purple Cross Insurance uses a state-of-the-art computer system and its 15 employees process 3000 claims a day. a. Which office is more productive (show/tell me how you got your numbers)? (3 points) Purple Cross Insurance is more productive. They process 200 claims per person (3000/15) whereas All-Folks insurance processes 100 claims per person (2500/25). b. Suppose that 50% of the claims processed at Purple Cross contain errors and 10% of the claims processed at All Folks contain errors. Which office is more productive? Why? (3 points) Purple Cross would still be more productive. They would be processing 100 accurate claims per person, whereas All-Folks would be processing 90 accurate claims per person. However, because Purple Cross does such poor work, they are wasting a lot of money and time on errors, and they could be a lot more productive if they reduced their errors. c. Why is quality so important to productivity? (1 points) When the quality of an organization’s goods or services is poor, the whole organization suffers. As word spreads about problems with the company, customers will look for alternatives.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
