For the most part, the majority of the public agrees that gun laws should be stricter than they are now. I think this is the case because of the growing violent crime rate in major cities related to poor gun control. 3. Yes, there has certainly been plenty of legislation to increase gun control consistent with the public opinion. For example, when searching THOMAS legislation database I noticed the following recent legislation on gun control: the Anti-Gun Trafficking Penalties Enhancement Act of 2007, the Department of Peace and Nonviolence Act, and the Foreign Felon Gun Prohibition Act of 2007. 4. The political implication of the public’s preference on this issue is the obvious divider between those opposed and those in favor of gun control legislation. In addition, legislation put forward by congressmen based on the opinion from his/ her constituents
