Microsoft Software to pay $179M to Iowa Class Action Settlement After searching for an accounting related article, I remember something that had happened not too long ago in Iowa. The article has a lot to do with accounting and how the big corporations try to control the specialized market that they are a member. By controlling the market in which they have products can tend to lead to unfortunate consequences. Article Review After reading through a lot of the settlement requirements and information, the case at hand deals with Microsoft and how they violated Iowa’s antitrust and unfair competition laws and overcharged customers for certain of its operating system, word processing and spreadsheet software. Sony Corp. had a similar settlement regarding the sale of the Playstation 2. Antitrust and unfair competition laws are laws created on the basis of equality and no one entity has sole control over the sale and competition between one another in regards to the listing price.
