She was treated in the past with diphenhydramine. But her teacher said it made her drowsy during school. She has no other medical problems and is not on any chronic medications. Her physical examination is unremarkable. The physician diagnoses her with seasonal allergic rhinitis and prescribes fexofenadine. 1. What is the mechanism of action of the antihistamines? (25 points) It works by blocking histamine receptors on the surface of basophils and mast cells, thereby preventing the release and actions of histamines stored within the cells
