FINC 782 Energy Markets Portfolio Analysis: Fall 2007 Professor Leslie McNew, Finance, AB Freeman School of Business Tuesday/Thursday; Trading Center Room M119: 2:30-3:45 pm 504-865-5036 lmcnew@tulane.edu Executive Summary: This class focuses on the more immediately useful energy market portfolio skills: natural gas pricing, natural gas portfolio transactions including producer and consumer hedging, basis risk management, Asian option hedging for natural gas, natural gas portfolio VaR, power pricing and risk management, weather hedging tools and calculations, credit derivatives and their use in energy, generation optimization and building forward curves. Attendance: Mandatory. If the student misses more than one class, his/her grade is reduced by one whole grade (i.e., B+ to C+). Excessive misses for job hunting are frowned upon. NO VIDEO TAPING OF CLASSES IS ALLOWED Material: There is no one book or manual for these topics as they are broad energy topics. Therefore, the student will be given a CD with power point lectures designed by the
