BioG125 Genomics and Society Assignment 5 – Journal Club Presentations October 10, 2007 REVISED The goal of this assignment is to get you started on how to find and dissect scientific journal articles. Don’t get bogged down with all the details and trying to understand everything. Try to glean key information and come away with the big picture! Find a partner. Get each other’s contact info. Decide on a topic that you are mutually interested in learning more about. Do a Pubmed search together and find a few possible papers. This is challenging and somewhat of an acquired skill to locate a ‘good’ paper. You could start with well known journals. If you want to make an appointment with me, I’m happy to assist. Pick a paper from 1) a Pubmed search for a narrowed down topic you are interested in or 2) one from the folder I put on Blackboard. If you pick one of the papers I’ve chosen, also do a Pubmed search for one other closely related or background article so that you also work through a
