ARTF 100 ART ORIENTATION SUMMER 2016 CRN 78161 Instructor: Omar Montaño Miramar College Email: [email protected] Department of Art Course Description In this introductory course, students will learn how to examine, compare, analyze, evaluate, interpret, and discuss works of visual art within their cultural contexts. Art media for study will include drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, film, architecture, etc. Works for examination will encompass representative artistic styles from western and other major world cultures, and will also include the artistic contributions of women and minority cultures. Course Prerequisites: None Required Text: Prebles’ Artforms by Patrick Frank, 10 th edition Course Outcomes Expected Student Learning Outcomes 1. Use art vocabulary to identify and analyze the formal and aesthetic components in works of art or the processes by which they are made.
