Wage-Hour Laws o Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Child labor Prohibits oppressive child labor practices Wages and hours Currently $5.85/hr Overtime exemptions Overtime o Unless “exempt”, paid 1.5 times regular pay for every hour over 40/week Worker Health and Safety o The Occupational Safety and Health Act ( OSHA ) Sets workplace health and safety standards Conducts workplace inspections o Workers Compensation Compensate workers injured on the job Accidental injury and occurred on the job. Income Security
