Background to identification of problem Title: Creating an announcement service from the network administrator to the school computers on the school network. Herschel Grammar School currently provides education for 11-18 year olds with approximately 200 teachers and over 1000 students. The network team is currently searching for a computer program which will allow them to send messages to other people in the school , by using a computer program which meets their specifications, they will be able to replace the outdated method which was walking to the classroom to talk to the person. Description of current problem Detail: While our school has a very intricate network for the computers in the building, it lacks a means of communication between the users and operators. The only way for the network administrator, Mrs Jakeman, to contact the students or teachers is to physically walk to every room and tell them, which can be quite a hassle for the rooms in the outer parts of the school, and also very time consuming. With my program I aim to make communication more intuitive and not require much effort to solve problems. Problems with the current system Teachers are unable to contact Mrs Jakeman and vice versa in an efficient way. Teachers have to sometimes leave their classroom to go to Mrs Jakeman and discuss technical problems, this is bad as students are left alone and they miss out on education as ICT is very important in our school. Questionnaire The formal user of the program will be Mrs Jakeman - a Network Manager at Herschel Grammar School. Mrs Jakeman is also the participant of my interview below where she describes the problems with the current method of communicating and the possible features a new program could implement. What is the current system? The current system is very simple it requires us to leave our office to go tell students or teachers if there is technical difficulties. Or it requires them to come to us to tell us about problems they are facing. What are the benefits with using the current system? You can talk to the person and explain to them why this is happening, but normally requires disturbing their lesson and interrupting the students learning. Also the benefit is having that one to one connection and that you can reply fast. What are the drawbacks of the current system? As there are only 2 people in the department we have a lot of work and walking just wastes time and as we have a lot of work load we normally don’t get time to complete it, as we always have to tell people about technical difficulties or they come to us to tell us which also disturbs us. Which new features would be the most important to you? Writing anything you want to any students or teacher and receiving and sending messages fast without any lag or disturbances.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
