Cosi fan tutte January 1790 in Burgtheater La scala degli amanti 2 acts symmetry Opera buffa Mozart picked up Lorenzo da Ponte’s libretto text “Cosi fan tutte” and set it to music after Salieri gave up. This may have created an enmity towards Mozart. Prague Micheal Puchberg Don Giovanni was based on works by Beaumarelaix. The plot of “Cosi fan tutti” is Fioraligia Maid of Fioraligia is Gugliclimo Dorrabellae Maid of Dorabella is Gerpando Don Alfonso is a philosopher (live philosophique which included pornography) Despina is a servant-woman Voltaire, Diderot were both middle 18 th century French philosophers who stressed the importance of forgiveness, love, rationality, and fidelity. The setting was in Naples in the 18 th century. Dorabella and Forando and Guglione both declare love of Dorabella and Fioraglia and that if their women were constant, they would write a serenade or have a dinner made for them. The orchestra starts mocking them with the “Cosi fan Tutte” musical line. Alfonso is skeptical
