To Infinity and Beyond I chose to do my enrichment topic on Infinity and beyond. From reading the first chapter of Dr. Kent A. Bessey’s book my head started to hurt thinking of all the infinite possibilities of infinity. Georg Cantor was a German mathematician who was set on figuring out as much as he could about the limits of infinity. His tenacity led him to discover a realm of infinity that no other mathematician had before him. Cantor proved that the set of real numbers was uncountable which means they are larger than the set of rational numbers that can be counted. He showed that a part of something can actually be the same amount as a whole of that same thing and I thought that was very interesting. Another thing I also found interesting was that not all infinite sets are the same size. Infinity is not the same number at all times and the sets are not the same size or number. His approach of pairing and figuring out sets was a huge step towards shedding light on the concept of infinity. He saw sets as continuous and
