At the beginning of the seminar Professor Giddens answered everyone’s questions about wither or not the final exam was going to be multiple choice or yes/no (true/false) questions. She also clarified that the final exam study guide would be gone over and that when it came time to take the final exam she informed that we will have three hours to complete it. She then took role to see who was in attendance and who was absent. Next the patient checkout process was reviewed. The first step is to access encounter data, which is the information we receive from the patient first. The second step is audit coding compliance, which ensures that we have the correct code. The third step is to review billing compliance, to ensure that there are no issues that may arise later. The fourth step is to post charges to the insurance company/guarantor once everything looks accurate. The fifth step is to calculate, collect, and post time-of-service payments.
