Phillip Hamilton is a seventeen year old athlete who participates in swimming, football, and running. Lately, he has being complaining of fatigue and not preforming as well as he usually does. When asked what his diet consists of, he answered that while he tries to get all required nutrients, it can be hard because he doesn’t have time to eat properly in between all three practices and school work. To keep his energy up, he drinks energy drinks like Monster and Redbull. The doctors came to the conclusion that he didn’t have enough of the required nutrients to keep up with his high level of physical activity. Below is what all of his doctors recommended he consume on a daily basis.Carbs are probably the most important nutrient a teen athlete can consume because it’s the building block for energy. Also, it helps with enhancing performance naturally because carbohydrates are stored in the body as glycogen. Protein is also important because it helps build and repair muscles. That can be especially important in sports like football or wrestling.
