Benedict Arnold’s actions during the Revolutionary war not only aided the Colonist but their British rivals as well. The battle of Bemis Heights was a pivotal event for Arnold and America. On October 7, 1777, Benedict Arnold took charge of General Gate’s army after being relieved of duty. Although it was against General Gate’s wishes, Arnold took the British army by surprise, during the Battle of Bemis Heights, and contributed to a great American victory. Benedict Arnold was considered a revolutionary war hero to those who were there, but to others not so much. The victory in Bemis Heights led to many big things the America. Several days after the win, A British General surrendered his entire army at Saratoga. Once new spread of the surrender, France gave up the entire the war on the side of the Americans.
