Austin Varner Assignment 1 1. While visiting Christmas Town, Jack was amazed to see everything so colorful and everyone so cheerful, just as most people are during Christmas time. He wanted to desperately change his “routine” of scaring people year after year, and seemed to have bumped into a culture he was quite interested in. The informants of Christmas Town seemed to be doing everything wrong to Jack, yet the town was so perfect. The children were bundled up and cozy while they slept with no ghouls under their bed. There were no monsters to be found and nightmares seemed to be missing. He pointed out many examples of symbols that resemble Christmas. For example, he looked through one of the windows where elves were hanging mistletoe and kissing underneath it. Through another window, a family was roasting chestnuts over the fire and telling stories. Jack also pointed out a couple of elves covering a Christmas tree with “things with little lights on strings.” All of these things that Jack points out resemble events surrounding
