Trademark infringement is the illegal use of a trademark or service mark of any sort on opposing or connected goods and services. In order to win in a lawsuit of this sort the plaintiff must prove that the defendant’s infringement caused misperception by the typical customer. 1 This is the issue in a pending lawsuit where Nike is suing 31 vendors and shoemakers for trademark infringement on its Chuck Taylor design. One of the chief litigants in this case is the plaintiff, Nike Inc. Nike is currently the world’s leading company in athletic footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories. Mr. Parker is the current President and Chief Executive Officer of Nike Inc.. His main goal is to help lead the constant development of the Nike brand. Converse first began when Marquis M. Converse unlocked the doors of the Converse Rubber Shoe Company in Malden, Massachusetts in 1908. He had no idea that he was essentially engineering an American icon. Throughout the 20th century, Converse created a reliable sequence of standout sports performance footwear. This included the shoe that transformed basketball and would later become a desired shoe universally, the Chuck Taylor All Star. The All Star shoe originally came in ordinary brown colors with black trim. In the 1920s, Converse All Stars were finished in all black canvas or leather styles.
