Langley, Tobaro and Kojima (Genetics 78: 921-936; 1974) Studied the relationship between enzyme variability (measured using electrophoresis) and chromosomal polymorphisms (the presence of certain inversions) in two populations of Drosophila melanogaster, 1. They obtained the following data for the Brownsville Texas population. They studied the enzyme locus Aldehyde oxidase (Ao) for which they scored two allelic groups within or not within a specific inversion (designated Inv[3R]p) on the third chromosome. Therefore, we are dealing with data from two “loci: (loci Ao and Inv) system, each with two alleles. The data were collected in a manner in which the chromosomal haplotype could be determined directly. The alleles studied are Ao-F and Ao-S for the enzyme locus, and St (standard) and In (Inv[3R]p) for the chromosomal type.
