Mission of the course Enables the students to learn the techniques and standard practices of mechanical engineering graphics At the end of the lectures, one would be able to: Read a working or assembly drawing (blueprint) Represent mechanical components in multiview orthographic representation Create conceptual design sketches Create assembly drawings ( limited by the design knowledge ) Capability to use AutoCAD for 2-D (3-D) representations * The amount of acquired skills will be proportional to the motivation, will and effort of the individuals

Main objective of the course To acquire essential skills that are part of the mechanical engineering practice To be able to communicate with other mechanical engineering professionals regardless their spoken language To be able to communicate with manufacturers of mechanical systems

Class logistics 3 continuous teaching hours/week M---- 8:45 11:30 12 lectures and one review class Midterm - (non-mandatory given during tutorial period) 2 hour of tutorial following the class in CAD room Non-informal CAD lab Section X has 2 sub-sections The final will be same for all sections 1 lab, once every four weeks (4 hours) the anatomy of mechanical engineering

Classes During classes the theoretical material follows by examples will be presented The lecture material will be available on the internet prior to the class such that one could read it and become familiar with the lecture that will be presented Question during the class are entertained

Tutorials The tutorial classes will be held in Computer Aided Design rooms Although the objectives of the tutorial are not to teach AutoCAD, it is highly recommended that during the tutorial to attempt to solve the assignments by AutoCAD while leaving the hand- drawn solution to be completed at home Both questions about the problems and AutoCAD are welcome during tutorials

Laboratory This is an addition to the course (Anatomy of Mechanical Engineering) A set of three sessions will be scheduled every four weeks ( it starts with week #2, the week of 16 Sept ) There are specific requirements that you have to follow as per the course outline of the laboratory The attendance and the satisfactory passing of the requirements of the class are mandatory
