Fear drivesthe decision making process of Okonkwo, which is notable throughout Things Fall Apart.Okonkwo is fearful of few things, but what does frighten him is truly a terrifying.Okonkwo is clearly worried about his public figure, which is evident from the introduction.Okonkwo knows he must have authority and power over his family, however he is not alwayscapable of hiding his act. “When Okonkwo heard that he would not eat any food he came intothe hut with a big stick in his hand and stood over him while he swallowed his yams, trembling.
