Cox 1 Kole Cox Ms.Brinkerhoff General Psychology Enrolled Online 21 March, 2017 Communicating With a Silent Language Communication is the basis of community, without some form of communication, a group will not prosper nor will it aspire to be successful. Language is a very efficient form of communication that allows members of a community to voice their concerns, ideas, and opinions. An advanced group like the United States of America possesses so many different forms of communication including multimedia and body language. Any form of communication can be classified as an individual language because it allows whoever is creating it to be heard by the majority of people, making all humans somewhat multilingual (Rumbaut, 2013). Language is the key to culture, a specific characteristic of an individual culture can be expressed in the virgin tongue of the community. Having one singular language ensures that all will be understood without being discriminated against or looked down upon by unifying the cultural aspects of the nation and its citizens (Rumbaut, 2013). Immigration in the United States is the driver of language diversity however, requiring immigrants to learn and use the standard language would aid the breakdown of cultural barriers and interpersonal differences. This may also cause cultures to merge and coincide with one another further creating a more unique but regulated society (Rumbaut, 2013). Humans communicate in many ways, it would be impossible to solidify and separate a single language for all to communicate through, but one such form of communication may be possible through current means of technology (Rumbaut, 2013).
