Kole Cox Ms. McLean English III Honors Period 5 9/29/15 The love of a family is a hard thing to describe. For there are so many kinds of families, from the Nuclear families most of us are used to, to the nontraditional families which are becoming more numerous. The hard thing about that is how do you describe the love between members of a different family. Estevan and Esperanza are a pretty battered family that have been through excruciating pain, but are still going on with their lives. Of course they have help from their friends , which in this situation is their family. Towards the end of The Bean Trees , Estevan and Esperanza help Taylor out Taylor by posing as Turtle s parents, by doing this Estevan and Esperanza not only put their lives on the line, but they put Turtle's life on the line as well. Estevan and Esperanza did something very risky by posing as Turtle s parents, predominantly because they themselves are illegal immigrants that if caught in the US will be deported, and most likely killed if sent back to Guatemala. Taylor realizes the risks and says,
