Ryan Fianza TH 208 Prof. Bisesti 5-20-07 Discussion Points Name of Film: Blazing Saddles Initial Impressions: -Director Mel Brooks (1974) -Racist Comedy -Language very harsh for a comedy -Mel Brooks is Jewish. -Interesting how a black sheriff was not plausible, but nowadays we have an African- American running for Presidency. -The style is a satire -I believe the fade outs in the movie made the film look like a cartoon -the film was similar to a cartoon as they used silly props and random jokes -all ethnicities were made fun of in the movie; Asians, Hispanics, Blacks, Indians, and Whites. -The actor who played Bart, Cleavon Little died from Colon Cancer in 1992. - The movie was nominated for 3 academy awards. -Gene Wilder frequently works with Mel Brooks for numerous movies. -I don’t think a film like this would be able to be produced in our time. -Society now, still believes its funny, due to it becoming a satire. However, a film such as this would not be able to be produced due to complications in the American society.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
