Ryan Fianza TH 208 Prof. Bisesti 5-20-07 Discussion Points Name of Film: Blazing Saddles Initial Impressions: -Director Mel Brooks (1974) -Racist Comedy -Language very harsh for a comedy -Mel Brooks is Jewish. -Interesting how a black sheriff was not plausible, but nowadays we have an African- American running for Presidency. -The style is a satire -I believe the fade outs in the movie made the film look like a cartoon -the film was similar to a cartoon as they used silly props and random jokes -all ethnicities were made fun of in the movie; Asians, Hispanics, Blacks, Indians, and Whites. -The actor who played Bart, Cleavon Little died from Colon Cancer in 1992. - The movie was nominated for 3 academy awards. -Gene Wilder frequently works with Mel Brooks for numerous movies. -I don’t think a film like this would be able to be produced in our time. -Society now, still believes its funny, due to it becoming a satire. However, a film such as this would not be able to be produced due to complications in the American society. -The film conveyed the Hispanics as dirty, and dull. This could be seen in the character of
