Through the course of history scientists, philosophers, and a multitude of educated minds have taken varying viewpoints on the lifecycle of the cosmos. This paper will describe modern cosmology; the Big Bang Theory; the Milky Way’s structure; dark matter; dark energy; and the theory of everything. Foundation of Modern Cosmology Cosmology is the study of the universe and how it began, evolves, the future of the universe. The science of modern cosmology is the pursuit of future of the universe. Where are we going and what can we expect in the future in the universe? In cosmology, as with other fields of science, the scientific method is an integral tool in studying the cosmos. To learn about our cosmos, scientists make observations to formulate a hypothesis. Once formed, the hypothesis tested by others in the scientific community is subject to scrutiny. A hypothesis that passes testing is then promoted to a theory. A theory is subjected to the scrutiny and testing of others in the scientific community where it will be proven or invalidated.
