Number Theory
Course Description:
This is a threecredit course that aims to provide an introduction to Num
ber Theory.
Topics to be covered includes
divisibility of numbers, prime numbers, congruences,
quadratic residues, primitive roots, and Diophantine equations
.

Course requirements:

Exam I: Monday, February 25 (in class).

Exam II: Monday, April 7 (in class).

Final: TBA.

Homework: Assigned on a weekly basis.
Exams:
•
Exams I and II will be 50 minute, inclass exams.
•
The topics for the exams will be announced at least a week before the exam dates.
•
No makeup
exam will be given.
•
The final exam will be comprehensive.
