First at all, give thanks for God’s love and grace for us. Thanks to God for helping us and give us chance to finish this paper timely. And We would like to say thank you to I Gst Ayu Dewi Adnyani, SE, M.Si as the lecturer that always teaches us and give much knowledge about Management. This paper is the one of Management task that composed of History of Management. I. realized this paper is not perfect. But I hope it can be useful for us. Introduction 1.1 Background Management is a branch of the social science. All knowledge of the branch of social science had development. This is because social science is dynamic that is always follow the developments of the times. Word “ management” comes from the old French management , having meaning the art implement and set. Management do not have a definition that established and accepted universally. Mary Parker Follet , for example, defines management as art finish the job through others. This definition is means that a manager to manage and directing others in order to reach organizational goals. Ricky W.Griffin define management as a process planning, organizing, coordination, and control resources to reach the goal of effectively and efficient. Effective means that a goal may be achieved in accordance with the planning, while efficient means that an existing task was done in a right, organized, and in accordance with the schedule. There is an opinion that said that on this day was not there is without any the past , therefore whatever was in the world this must be has a history of including also management . Before we learn management, we must study the history of management in order for us to a better time management in studying. 1.2 Problem Formulation a. How history and Backgorund of the birth of Management? b. What is Classical Management Theory? c. What is Scientific Management? 1.3 Destination a. To find out about how the History and Backgorund of Management is started. b. To find out and understand what is the meaning of Classical Management Theory. c. The evolution in management theory over the last century is the history of the constantly changing role of leaders in organizations. As organizational leaders evolved from the carrot-and-stick wielding owner-managers of the earlier Industrial Era to the Servant Leaders of the 21 st Century, the impact of individual leaders on organizations became progressively important. Whereas early managers could rely on authority and strong-arm tactics to reach their goals, servant leaders in our time are challenged to set personal examples by living the values and principles they wish their followers to achieve.
