Molly Sheehan Parts Two and Three Analysis The story of Things Fall Apart morphs drastically between part one and parts two and three. We follow Okonkwo’s story through his exile and return to his village which is now taken over by European missionaries. Though there is still a major focus on Okonkwo’s declining status among his clan, the story also focuses on the major changes brought about by the missionaries. I found parts two and three to be riveting. It shows the massive impacts the western world can have on another culture, whether wanted or not. I think this novel (especially these two parts) should make all of us wonder whether our idea of a superior culture is right to force upon other people in the world. One key term in these two sections is Christianity. It is the religion that the missionaries bring to the clan and try to sway the villagers into accepting (even achieving with one of Okonkwo’s own).
