LAB: Ocean Circulation and Climate Climate Ocean Density Demo : Morgan Parker I. Purpose: To exemplify the density of water and it’s currents based on temperature and salinity. II. Materials: *Water *Hot Plate *Jar/Box *Colored Dyes 3. Obtain BLUE water and pour 25ml of blue ice water into a beaker. DO NOT POUR YET! Make a prediction about what will happen when you pour the cold blue water through the funnel into the box. I predict that the BLUE dye will slowly sink to the bottom because the water is cold, the dye travels slower. 4. Pour the cold blue water into the funnel slowly and describe your observations. The dye did exactly that, it slowly traveled to the bottom and swirled around. 5. Obtain RED water and pour 25ml of red hot water into a beaker. DO NOT POUR YET! Make a prediction about what will happen when you pour the hot red water through the funnel into the box. I predict that the dye will mix and turn the entire upper jar of water red. 6. Pour the hot red water into the funnel slowly and describe your observations. The dye did exactly that, the dye expanded and spread through the water turning the entire upper layer of water red.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
