Finding Purpose Through Argumentative Writing Author Bios Dr. Andrea Alden Dr. Andrea Alden is an instructor at Grand Canyon University where she teaches undergraduate writing courses. She has been teaching writing-intensive courses since 2008, ranging from, First Year Composition to Persuasive Writing to Business and Professional Writing, among others. She earned her Bachelor’s in Communication, her Master’s in English with an emphasis in Rhetoric and Composition, and her Ph.D. in English with an emphasis in Rhetoric, Composition, and Linguistics. Her research interests are in the intersection of medical and legal discourse, and she is currently working on a book manuscript tentatively titled Morality and Myth: A Rhetorical History of the Insanity Defense. Angela M. Lopez Angela M. Lopez earned her Master of Art Degree in Comparative Literature from Arizona State University in 2006. Her thesis, The Empowered Woman in Idylls of the King and Don Juan Tenorio , is an in-depth analysis of English Victorianism and Spanish Romanticism with emphasis on the female character as strong, independent, and empowered. In addition to academic research and writing, Lopez is an educator at the university level and has taught basic writing skills,
