Common Rites of Passage When it comes to rites of passage in the United States, they are not anything like other countries around the world. In the United States rites of passage are things like baptisms, bar mitzvahs and ceremonies, school graduation ceremonies, weddings, retirement parties and funerals. When someone passes away they are released and take their final step into their rite of passage way. When it comes to weddings, almost all countries look at weddings as a rite to passage by taking the hand of someone to continue one’s life as a whole and not separately. Rites of Passage A ceremony that marks the transition from one phase in life to another phase. Identity Formation Sara A.
