Assignment 3-Early Theories of Human Development 2 There are several theories on human development. I will be focusing comparing and contrasting three of them; Freud, Erickson and Piaget. The developmental theory of Freud is one that was based on that of psychosexual development. Freud stated that after his analyzation of patients, their problems were results of early life. Freud stated that children went through five phases and those phases were based on sexual instincts. Eric Erickson and Erickson’s theory was based on psychosocial development. Erickson’s theory focused not just on early life but also experiences that happen later in life. In Erickson’s theory there are eight stages of development. Jean Piaget was a Swiss development psychologist. His theory was based on cognitive development and stated that children went through four stages of understanding.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
