History 104 – Introduction to the Modern World Dr. Farr Test 2 Study Guide NOTE: PLEASE BRING AN EXAMINATION BOOKLET WITH YOU TO THE TEST. The test will be based on lecture materials presented to you since the first test. Feel free to use material in the Farr text to clarify or elaborate upon the lectures. The test will be divided into three parts. The following questions will guide you through the appropriate lectures and enable you to answer any questions concerning them that might appear on the test. Part I. 25%. Freedom and Equality : what were the evolving history and shifting meanings of these terms in the following contexts? The American Revolutions ( of 1776-1783 and 1787-1791) The French Revolution (to 1791) Liberalism (both political and economic) Marxian Socialism Be sure to discuss the key individuals and texts that best illustrate the history and meanings of the terms. ON THE TEST, I WILL SELECT TWO OF THE ABOVE AND ASK YOU TO WRITE AN ESSAY ON ONE OF THEM (ALLOW ABOUT 20 MINUTES).
