The Road to Maturity Females as we know have different problems than men. Some might even say that men will never understand why a woman acts the way she does, but for many people the problems woman experience are just transitions they encounter towards the path to maturity. In the short story of “A Man in the House” Verna is experiencing a sexual attraction between her and her uncle. In other cases, Connie from the film Smooth Talk also experiences a sexual dilemma between Arnold Friend, a guy that happens to know a lot about Connie and tries to smooth talk her into going on a ride with him around the outskirts. Both Verna and Connie experience dilemmas that deal with sexual activity, yet they differ because of their life styles and own personal conflicts. Mutually, Verna and Connie have the same mind set of their curiosity towards sex. For example, they are both at an age where boys are beginning to run through their minds.
